Christmas is always a time for giving and merry making. London is decorated with wonderful twinkling lights that make you wish you could take a page out of Peter Pan's book and return to your childhood to fully enjoy all the sights, sounds and smells that the city of London has to offer at the most wonderful time of year !

In the run-up to Christmas, the capital's top shopping destinations are filled to the brim with festive cheer and festive gifts that are soon to fill stockings across the United Kingdom, much to the delight of both children and adults alike!

Here is a heads up of a few places where you can have a good time as you shop for your loved ones during the festive season:

Oxford Street and Regent Street

Both these famous streets are filled the whole year with shoppers but closer to Christmas, they are lit with spectacular Christmas lights and almost impossible to navigate as they are crammed with shoppers! Enjoy the view the famous Christmas window displays at Selfridges on Oxford Street or step by department stores such as Debenhams and John Lewis. Don't forget to visit the John Lewis' winter themed rooftop bar while you are in the area! Regent Street is an excellent location for gift ideas, filled with a wide range of international brands and flagship stores such as the Apple Store, Hamleys and Liberty London.

Mayfair and St James's

For the gentleman who is looking for some stylish threads of exquisite taste, you can make your way to Jermyn Street in St James's. Stock up on colourfully patterned socks from New & Lingwood or enjoy scents fit for royalty at Floris.

Leave plenty of time when you visit Fortnum & Mason to fully enjoy the delights of the food hall, mince pies, chocolates and fantastic Christmas puddings! For those looking for a destination for high-end boutiques, nearby Bond Street you will find brand names such as Burberry, Louis Vuitton and Tiffany & Co. amongst others

Carnaby Street

Carnaby street is one of London's trendiest shopping destinations, made of 14 pedestrianised streets, making it a perfect destination for buying things for those loved ones who seem to have everything. Carnaby is crammed with independent fashion boutiques and cutting-edge brands such as Sweaty Betty, Diesel and the very British Fred Perry. With wonderful Christmas lights that sparkle above you as you make your walk across the shopping Mecca in the heart of London.

Knightsbridge

As darkness falls, head over to Knightsbridge to see the world-famous department store -Harrods, lit up with more than 12,000 lightbulbs. Wander across this store's giant Christmas shop filled with posh crackers, luxury decorations and ornaments created by the top designers! If you find yourself still lacking for choice after visiting the 300+ departments on the other floors of Harrods, Harvey Nichols is just a few steps away with a wonderful selection for every shopper looking for something unique for Christmas.

Connaught Village

Connaught Village is the Hyde Park Estate's luxury retail quarter and one of London's best spots for independent retailers as well as gourmet food & drink. A wonderful experience just a short walk from Hyde Park, Oxford Street and Marble Arch! It's a hidden gem full of picturesque shops selling unique wares, vintage items and antique jewellery. Don't forget to drop by the Lyon & Turnbull auction house and bid for something totally unique and may just take your breath away.

Winter Wonderland

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland is the most spectacular Christmas destination in London. Located in the heart of London, for an entirety of 6 weeks from November to January, you can immerse yourself in all things festive! With over 100 spectacular attractions and rides, thrilling shows and not to mention London's biggest Christmas Market!

All these wonderful shopping destinations are easily accessible by tube via Hatton Cross Station which is literally a two-minute walk from Atrium Heathrow Hotel. We suggest you start making your shopping lists so as to avoid the rush created by last-minute shoppers diving into stores trying to make up for lost time!
